Could Your Personal Mobility Benefit from an Ottobock C-Brace?

March 27, 2020

When it comes to the latest orthotic technologies, MCOP Orthotists are always keeping an eye out for new product developments and other breakthroughs. With newer and more dynamic lower-limb orthotics entering the market, we’ve been able to offer our clients an increasingly more sophisticated array of product offerings than ever before.

The knee-ankle-foot orthosis (KAFO) we’ve been most pleased with is the Ottobock C-Brace Orthotronic Mobility System, a technologically advanced, dependable, and incredibly flexible knee-ankle-foot orthosis from a trusted, industry-leading brand.

Who Benefits the Most From This Dynamic Knee-Ankle-Foot Orthosis?

This particular KAFO has become a true game-changer for those in need of greater levels of mobility and maneuverability, without having to sacrifice quality or durability to get it.

Whether you have post-polio syndrome, incomplete paraplegia, or any number of other neurological or orthopedic conditions which lead to lower-extremity paralysis, the Ottobock C-Brace® might just be the ideal solution for you. That’s because it’s specifically designed to help its wearers walk confidently again, even on rough or uneven terrain, without the fear of stumbling or facing any of the other limitations brought on by reduced mobility. The reason for that is in large part due to its cutting-edge mobility braces technology.

Reshaping the Future: Ottobock’s Cutting-Edge Mobility Braces Technology

Embedded within every C-Brace® is a highly advanced sensor system offering the latest in smart microprocessor technology. Each and every sensor system that’s built into these mobility braces allow wearers to comfortably control both the stance and swing phases of the device in real-time, meaning no delay whatsoever.

This C-Brace® functionality optimizes the wearer’s gait pattern during any phase of movement, providing an extremely helpful alternative to other mobility braces that simply lock the knee, which tends to restrict reactivity and functionality.

The C-Brace® also allows specialists and users alike to quickly and easily set up individual user settings on any smartphone or tablet by using either of Ottobock’s two popular applications.

The Cockpit App: Helping Our Clients Master Their KAFOs

One of the most intriguing tech-based features of the Ottobock C-Brace® is its compatibility with the Cockpit app. The Cockpit app is a versatile, easy-to-use application for users of smart enabled orthotic braces and prosthetic devices from Ottobock. This compatibility means that whenever our clients select the Ottobock C-Brace® as their KAFO in-use, they’re able to easily customize and control its various functions with their smartphone in real-time.

While the Cockpit app was designed by Ottobock for use with a wide variety of their orthotic and prosthetic offerings, the goal of the app has always stayed the same: to help its users learn about, control, and adjust their devices to more comfortably meet their unique day-to-day needs, whatever they may be.

C-Brace® users can use Cockpit for all sorts of things, such as monitoring a device or brace battery level, compiling and viewing important functional feedback from the component, switching between the preconfigured or custom modes and usage settings for different scenarios. For example, users can quickly change the settings on the brace to cycling mode, or make individual tweaks to certain settings that allow them to get the best performance in whatever activity they are doing.

O&P professionals use the app to make precise adjustments to the client’s C-Brace® when its first being applied, leading to even greater levels of mobility and comfort right from the start.

C-Brace® Setup App For Orthotists and Prosthetists

Additionally, orthotists can use the C-Brace Setup app to make even more fine-tuned adjustments to suit the wearers needs and comfort level. Any trained O&P technician will also benefit from the sheer convenience and intuitiveness of the C-Brace’s tech. Using either the Setup or Cockpit apps, technicians can now fabricate the C-Brace® to suit the users very specific preferences, as well as orthotist preferred settings that help each individual reach their mobility goals.

Premium Materials Only for These Lower-Limb Orthotics!

In design, the Ottobock C-Brace®, consists of several separate, individually fabricated components, including:

  • Thigh shellOttobock C-Brace
  • Electronic display
  • C-Brace joint unit
  • Medial support
  • Lower leg shell
  • Ankle joint
  • Foot shell

Each component is not only constructed with durability and longevity in mind, but they are also small and lightweight, as is the system as a whole. The lightweight design reduces the strain on the wearer while walking, jogging, or running. The brace can actually be worn under clothing quite easily, without notice.

Additionally, a replicated ankle joint or individual spring connects the foot and calf components. And, the device’s sensor systems consistently monitor the flexion of the knee joint and its angular acceleration to ensure a consistently comfortable, yet always safe level of mobility.

Maximize Functionality and Flexibility with your Orthotic Brace

The popular Ottobock C-Brace offers several perks that make this device one of the most flexible and functional KAFOs around. It’s cutting-edge technology has already set the precedent for what can be achieved with modern lower-limb orthotics, whether it’s managing gait patterns, achieving greater rates of responsiveness, or using something as simple as a smartphone to make critical changes in real-time usage scenarios.

So, if you’re wondering if your mobility could benefit from a Ottobock C-Brace, the answer, we think, is a resounding yes!
