This Ukrainian veteran recovery story is a powerful reminder of what’s possible with expert care and teamwork. Just one week after receiving his new prosthetic leg at MCOP Ukraine, Artem Ivankov, a soldier injured in Kharkiv, ran a 5K relay in honor of his fellow servicemen. His story highlights the impact of collaboration between local Ukrainian clinicians and our U.S.-based MCOP team.
Artem was treated at our Kyiv clinic by both local prosthetists and a specialized group from our U.S.-based MCOP team. The American clinicians weren’t just there to assist with fittings — they also trained our Ukraine-based staff, sharing techniques and offering hands-on support. This collaboration built both short-term outcomes and long-term capability.
ABC News correspondent Martha Raddatz followed Artem’s journey and captured the behind-the-scenes care happening at MCOP Ukraine – care made possible through a global partnership with our U.S. team and the support of Future for Ukraine.
This kind of work requires strong partnerships. We’re proud to work alongside Future for Ukraine (FFU) – a nonprofit that provides critical support through logistics, funding, and outreach. Their efforts help us focus on what matters most: treating veterans with the dignity and care they deserve.
