Articulating prosthetics and/or articulating devices can most commonly be thought of as artificial joints that still allow for movement, either naturally or by mimicking natural joint movement. When it comes to prosthetics, devices can often be divided into two distinctive groups: those with rigid connections to their prosthetic shanks (i.e., non-articulating prosthetics) and those with a hinged-ankle ankle mechanism that allows for more natural and flexible mobility (i.e., articulated prosthetics).
