The goal of almost every lower-limb amputee is to eventually walk normally again – or at least as close to normal as possible in relation to the severity of their amputation. This is where gait training comes in.
During rehabilitation, almost all lower-limb amputees will receive some form of gait training to help normalize their locomotive walking (gait) patterns. This type of training is usually provided by a physical therapist and can take place in a variety of settings, especially with a recently fitted prosthetic.
