Lower-Extremity Amputation

A lower-extremity amputation includes the removal of any part of a lower limb. There are various levels of lower-extremity amputations, including:

  • toe amputation
  • foot/partial foot amputation
  • ankle disarticulation
  • below-knee amputation
  • knee disarticulation
  • above-knee amputation
  • hip disarticulation
  • pelvic amputation

Any lower-extremity amputation involves a pretty extensive rehabilitation process, which is why we guide our clients through ongoing postoperative care—helping to find the ideal prosthetic technology and teaching how to move forward with a healthy outlook and active lifestyle.
