Prosthosis is a term referring to the combination of a prosthesis and orthosis that helps provide support, proper body alignment, control and function for someone who still has a limb, but is unable to use it.
Usage of both an orthotic and prosthetic device is sometimes needed after suffering a stroke, flail arm or brachial plexus injury involving paralysis, or injuries involving trauma that permanently fuse a hand, for example.
