After spending several years as a fitness manager and personal trainer, Charlie Kelly knew he loved helping people improve the quality of their lives through fitness and exercise. It wasn’t until he first saw a prosthetic device in a college engineering course that he was set down a life-changing path. A path that would eventually lead him to work with MCOPI as the Chief Prosthetist of MCOP International’s Malta Clinic.
Charlie initially earned an individualized Bachelor of Science degree in Anatomical Equipment Design from Metropolitan State University. Following his undergrad program, he attended California State University Dominguez Hills’ Orthotics & Prosthetics Program. He completed his residency for Prosthetics and Orthotics at Long Beach Veteran Affairs.
Charlie spent over seven years working as a Prosthetist in the Bay Area where he worked closely with a prominent University Health system. In 2018, Charlie began working for MCOP International as Chief Prosthetist in Malta. There he coordinated a team of technicians, staff from Steward Health Care and the Maltese government to provide sophisticated, accessible prosthetic care to 350+ patients. He introduced new technologies, devices, and prosthetics to the islands whenever possible.
While in Malta he and his wife Jennifer enjoyed travel, experiencing different cultures, and swimming the waters of the Mediterranean Sea. Today, Charlie is a Senior Prosthetist/Orthotist at MCOP Annapolis. He works alongside his wife, Jennifer. Since returning stateside in December 2021, they are enjoying exploring their way around the Greater Annapolis area and all that the Chesapeake Bay area has to offer.
