Medical Center Orthotics and Prosthetics is seeking a talented and compassionate Certified Prosthetist Orthotist (CPO) to join our dynamic team. As a CPO, you will play a pivotal role in providing specialized orthotic and prosthetic care to patients of all ages. From initial assessment to device fitting and follow-up care, you will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to deliver comprehensive treatment plans tailored to each patient’s unique needs and goals.

Working alongside our existing clinical team you will be supported to build your own “practice-within-a-practice”. this leads to many opportunities for diversification in clinical caseload, specialization and having a fulfilling career. 

The ideal candidate will have a strong interest in having a split between an orthotic/prosthetic patients, has experience working with a diverse patient population and understands how to work in a fast-paced environment with a full team, including other clinicians, an in-house fabrication technical team, and an administrative team. Management experience is a plus.

Responsibilities:

  • Patient Assessment:
    • Interview patients to understand their unique orthotic or prosthetic requirements.
    • Assess patients’ physical conditions, medical history, and lifestyle.
    • Collaborate with physicians and other healthcare professionals to formulate treatment plans.
  • Device Design and Fabrication:
    • Based on physician prescriptions and patient measurements, design and fabricate orthotic and prosthetic devices.
    • Pay attention to physiological function, health, and patient comfort during the design process.
    • Construct prosthetics or orthotics by hand or supervise construction by technicians.
  • Patient Support:
    • Develop and execute the optimal plan for device provision, integration of therapy and training across a broad spectrum of O&P services. 
    • Provide patients with clear instructions on how to use and maintain their devices.
    • Address any questions or concerns patients may have regarding their orthotic or prosthetic devices.
    • Offer ongoing care, adjustments, and repairs as needed throughout and following the treatment process.
  • Professionalism and Communication:
    • Maintain professionalism when interacting with referral sources, patients, and physicians.
    • Collaborate effectively with interdisciplinary teams to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
    • Stay informed about advancements in orthotics and prosthetics through continuous learning.

Requirements

Qualifications:

  • Certification: Must be an ABC/BOC Certified Orthotist/Prosthetist.
  • Technical Skills: Demonstrated technical proficiency in designing and fabricating orthopedic and prosthetic devices.
  • Interpersonal Skills: Excellent communication skills when dealing with patients, referral sources, and physicians.
  • Team Player: Willingness to work in a fast-paced environment and contribute to a high level of patient care.
  • Clinical Expertise: Familiarity with treatment protocols and best practices in orthotics and prosthetics.
  • Management Experience: Management experience is considered a plus and can be accommodated.
